Kerry Group volunteers, with John McMahon CTT, ready for action on their community volunteer day 20 July
CHARLEVILLE TIDY TOWNS
Tidy Towns Competition
By now, though no Tidy Towns judge was spotted in the area, we expect that judging has been completed.
Thank you to our group of Tus workers who did trojan work throughout the summer in sometimes very difficult conditions due to the intense heat. Your commitment to the cause is much appreciated and your work has greatly enhanced the appearance of our town.
Our thanks also to Cork County Council engineer and staff for their constant help and support. They play an important role in keeping our streets clean and tidy and always picked up the bags left for collection by our volunteers after the Monday evening clean-ups.
Thank you to the groups who volunteered their assistance this summer: to the schools for their assistance in the Anti-Litter Challenge; to the staff of AIB who also assisted in the Anti-Litter Challenge; to the volunteers from Kerry Group who cleared and cleaned the footpath on the Kilmallock Rd; to the ladies of Charleville Flower Club for their assistance in the Garden of Remembrance and with the roses behind the library; to the many businesses and Charleville GAA who displayed beautiful flowers, whether in tubs or baskets outside their premises. Your efforts help to add colour and atmosphere to our town.
CTT also planted tubs and put up hanging baskets and we offer our thanks to those who watered and took care of them, they would not have survived this summer’s drought without your assistance.
Charleville Tidy Towns consists of a small but dedicated group of volunteers who give of their time and energy in many ways, especially in the weekly get togethers on Monday evenings to plant and maintain flowers and shrubs, weed footpaths and road edges, pick litter, tidy any area that needs attention and generally attempt to show off Charleville in the best possible light.
