Charleville is fortunate to avail of top-class facilities regarding mental health and well-being.
St. Joseph's Foundation
St. Joseph's Foundation is the region's primary health care and educational centre for people with both mental and physical disabilities. It provides a variety of services to children with an intellectual disability who are 0-18 years of age and living within our catchment area. These services are delivered in the home, in St. Joseph's Respite Centre, in their campus based pre-school and school, or in community-based pre-schools and schools. It also provides adult day services as well as residential and community services for those over 18 years of age.
Sli Eile is another important locally based mental health organisation. It aims to provide housing and support for people "caught up in the revolving door of the psychiatric system".
General Health Facilities
Due to Charleville's location, there are two hospitals located close to the town. Mallow General Hospital and Limerick Regional Hospital are located approximately 18 minutes and 25 minutes from Charleville respectively by road. There are several General Practioners, pharmacies and dentists operating in the town, all of which can be found here.
