District Employment Centre

Charleville has been designated as a District Employment Centre by Cork County Council. As such, Cork County Council recognises Charleville’s position as a services centre for a large surrounding area, which not only includes that area in North within the South Limerick and North Cork region and will accommodate the town in fulfilling this role.

Zoning Map for Charleville

Charleville’s Zoning Map is found in the Kanturk Draft Local Area Plan 2010. It indicates that there is abundant zoned land for Industry, Business and Residential uses. Through discussions with the Planning Policy Unit of Cork County Council, Charleville Chamber was able to negotiate the inclusion of a relief road that traverses the ‘Business’ and ‘Industrial’ lands to the east. There is sufficient land available to cater for the County Council’s population increase target of 65% for Charleville by 2020.
